Fair use of AI features

This is the fair-use policy referred to in §10.3 of the Terms of Service.

1. What's included in your subscription

Every Venue's subscription includes the AI features as a working kitchen actually uses them: asking Sous questions and developing dishes and menus; costing recipes; reading invoice photographs into prices; importing recipes from photos, websites or text; logging the food-safety diary by voice; and having Sous read its answers aloud. There are no per-question charges. The guided tour of the app uses pre-recorded audio and costs your allowance nothing at all.

2. The allowance

Each Venue has a monthly fair-use allowance, set generously above normal kitchen use — it exists to keep the flat price honest for everyone, not to meter your day. A busy kitchen using Sous throughout service, photographing every invoice and running the diary by voice sits comfortably inside it.

3. You can always see where you stand

Your Venue's own usage meter is visible in the app at any time — calls and volume this month, against the allowance. No surprises, no bill at the end.

4. What happens beyond the allowance

The Service degrades gracefully rather than cutting off mid-task: heavier features may switch to lighter AI models, and voice may fall back to your device's built-in voice, until the month resets. Nothing stops working; nothing is charged extra. If your kitchen genuinely needs more, talk to us — the answer will be a sensible arrangement, not a surprise invoice.

5. What fair use is not

The allowance protects against use that isn't a kitchen running its operations: automated or scripted bulk requests, using one Venue's allowance to serve other venues or businesses, reselling access to the AI features, or attempts to use Sous as a general-purpose API. We may slow, meter or (for persistent abuse) suspend such use under §12 of the Terms.

6. Changes

We may update the allowance and this policy via this page. The direction of travel is generosity: the allowance exists so we never have to say "contact us for pricing".
